As we get closer to kicking off for Week Two, a few quick things.
If you can’t make it to the Lacey-Toms River East game tonight, check out our Friday night scoreboard for live streaming video of the game, courtesy of lsnsports.net, so that you won’t miss any of the action.
Also, if you can’t make it to the big Southern-Brick Memorial American Division game on Friday night, you can listen to it on WOBM AM 1160 or Fox Sports 1310, or stream it on your computer here. Kevin Williams, Ed Sarluca and Matt Harmon also will be bringing you Saturday’s National Division showdown between Point Boro and Manasquan.
In the random tidbit department, you can check out former Marlboro and Temple star Dan Klecko on the Sept. 25 episode of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” a funny comedy on FX Network. Kleck is now a fullback for the Eagles and will be on the show along with some of his teammates.
     A few other quick tidbits:

  • Middletown South coach Steve Antonucci will be going for his 100th career win against Freehold Township on Friday night.
  • The last time Long Branch played a home game, Arnold Schwarzenegger still had an acting career.
  • Wall‘s Blaze Caponegro is the Shore’s leading rusher with 247 yards.
  • Neptune‘s Michael Peavy has run for at least 100 yards in 10 of his last 11 games, with a career high of 286 yards set in an NJSIAA consolation game against Hamilton West last year. He ran for 258 yards and two TDs in his last game against Freehold, which was won by the Colonials.
  • Middletown North is 1-0 for the first time since 2002, when it lost its second game of the season.
  • Jackson is looking for its first win over Manalapan since 2005 after two straight losses.
  • Southern is looking for its second straight win over Brick Memorial after losing by a combined 54-0 to the Mustangs in their previous two meetings.
  • Central is looking to end a 14-game losing streak and get its first victory since a 7-6 win over Pinelands on Oct. 14, 2006.
  • Jackson Liberty‘s only victory over a Shore Conference team in its young history was a 20-14 win over Lakewood last year.
  • Barnegat is angling for its first 2-0 start in the three years of its varsity history when it takes on Holmdel.
  • Manchester is looking for its first season-opening win since a 41-28 win over Monmouth in 2003.
